I own a Nikon camera with 18-55mm Lens, I also have a carrying bag that I bought seperately, now the thing is, when I go ahead and try to pack it, I always remove the lens - battery - SD Card, and pack em in specific cases in the bag, now removing the lens basically, is it bad for the camera? I've heard a lot of rumors about it being bad and I would like to get some advice from someone who knows better than I do.

It's only bad if you get dust inside the body. Pro photographers swap lenses all the time (Or carry a couple cameras with different lenses).

Your camera should be fine as long as you put a lens cap on both the camera and the lens. Without that, dust can get into the sensor or debris can block the optical image stabilization and cause problems with it. A lot of people swap their lenses all of the time.

Sensor debris and dust is really the only issue you'll run into here. I swap lenses about 3X a shoot, on average. DSLRs and their mirrorless friends are designed with lens mounts to make swaps and disassembly a convenient and regular experience.

The lens comes off because you are meant to be able to change it. rear and front elements on modern lenses are amazingly durable and if you are not in a particularly dusty environment you should be fine. I know people who don't even bother with cups because they slow them down and they are worried they might miss the shot.

I myself change lenses all the time, even when travelling.

So in short no, it doesn't affect the cameras performance, it only slows you down in some instances.

Small note, for obvious reasons, cscs are more prone to gather  dust and debris on the sensor. The solution is to learn to maintain your camera and just invest in some cheap microfibre cloths, lens wipes and lens solutions, a rocket blower and lens brush and a bunch of sensor swabs, I always carry a couple in my bag, I just keep some in all of my bags, they are pretty cheap on amazon.

Then just look through youtube at guides of how to clean your camera etc.

Don't baby your equipment, its incredibly durable and robust in most instances.
