Looking at a laptop for graphic Design for a friend, she's going to be using 3DS max, photoshop and unity and the bonus of decent gaming as well is a big bonus but not a necessity.

Looking at this one: Best Buy Laptop

Is this a good choice? Or can someone recommend a better option

Budget: 2000$ CAD

Thanks.

go for a Thinkpad Lenovo ThinkPad P51 or Lenovo ThinkPad T460p , dell Inspiron 7000 with 7700HQ and 1050ti is good she wants something flashy( i wouldn't recommend it for her needs).

Flashy is not on the criteria, she doesn't really care what it looks like to some degree. But the overall school aspect is of key importance.

That's what I was thinking myself, I'm not big on laptop knowledge.

forgot to add it's gotta be windows, no macs due to program restrictions

Well if she really wants a Mac she could run bootcamp, but I wouldn't recommend it. I would give you suggestions but I'm in the U.S. and it's hard for me to search Canadian prices

screen size is kinda IMPORTANT when doing design work, heck I won't even use the 17.3" screen on my laptop when I do CAD work anymore, I jump right to my 27" monitor these days, a few extra pounds for the larger 17" screen is worth is so you can SEE what you are doing.

1

15" should be good enough on the go.

she can get a bigger display if she needs it, 17" is really awkward screen size for portability.
