75hz worth it?

I'm looking to play non-competative games @1440p and i'm trying to decide if I should pay extra to get 75hz. Van someone please help me?

I play at 1440p on an IPS at 60Hz. And it's perfectly fine for me.

 

I haven't tried anything above 60 though.

 

But I would only pay more for 144, not for 75. But that's my preference.

Yes I think I van help  what is your hardware if you have a 1070 or better, yea you push that many fps out to the game, if you have one below that, depends what game your playing. as for whether you should get on, your call mate as there are people who can see the difference between 60 and 75 and there is people who can't

Yes if you have a GTX 1080, you see much more difference going from 60hz to 75hz~100hz than going 100hz to 144hz so if you can fit it in the budget I personally think it'd worth, provided your card is strong enough to make use of it.

What GPU? If 1070 don't bother. Also look for a 60Hz monitor that people have achieved high overclocks on. I OCed my monitor to 68Hz but decided not to keep it because it's too awkward a number so it's set to 65 now.

No. 60HZ and 75Hz has little difference. Unless you can get 100Hz plus, otherwise stick to 60Hz. Some 60Hz monitor can be overclocked to 74Hz (like mine), and that's close enough.

With Nvidia cards, just use nvidia control panel

 

With AMD cards, I don't think AMD software can do it. In that case, you have to use another app (I have done that before, but I forgot the name). Do some online search and you can find tutorials on that

 

Anyway, it is possible. Only a few monitors cannot be overclocked.

The 60/75 issue depends on your hardware (can it push the extra frames), and whether or not the higher framerate matters to you. If possible, find somewhere you can use a 75hz monitor and see if you notice the difference. I do, but I am more sensitive to that than most people I know (which is why I have a 144hz monitor).

75 Hz is noticeable and will generally be a larger improvement over lets say 144hz vs 160hz.

Basically what i do is OC my monitor, @Jurrunio This can be done with either side (so AMD has that option aswell).

 

Just try 70hz most standard monitors should be capable of this.

Completely ignoring OP just stated he doesn't do competitive gaming and wants higher resolution and image quality above refresh rate.

Stick to the 60hz and try to overclock it then, the 75hz one would most likely provide you a 85ish hz in the end of the day which Is a huge difference unlike some people said however given your card will not keep up with such high frames rate on ultras at 1440p on games like The Witcher 3 which is what you'll be playing there's not much a point for it, the 60hz one will do it just fine, make sure it is an IPS panel though.

Erm when did the 1070 become bad for 1440p? The attitude of 1080 or 1080Ti for everything pisses me off and is wrong. I have a 3440x1440 ultrawide 100hz monitor. My 1070 could drive all my games between 80-100 hz on all triple A titles and that is a more demanding screen than a standard 1440p monitor. A 1070 will be fine for 1440p 75Hz... I have a 1080Ti now but that's more because I could rather than needed to
