i7700k high temps under load?

BlackMirror

Hey!

I originally used an i3770k and stress testing my new i7700k in a new build I thought the temperatures were much too high for using an AIO cooler and not overclocking...

Setup:

i7700k @4.2GHz

Corsair Platinum DDR4 @3200MHz

Kraken x62

Eva GTX1080Ti FTW3

Stresstest:

Prime95 Small FFTs: (20min) ~71°C

RealBench: (100% Load, 15 minutes) Max 69°C

Aida64 System Stability Test: (15min) ~49.2°C

Benchmark:

RealBench: (1 Run) 124,986 System Score

UNIGINE Superposition Benchmark:(1080p Extreme, DirectX): 5855 Score (GPU: Min 35°C Max 70°C)

Maybe its just the bad thermals of the 7700k and I am just used to my old processor but I just wanted to be sure and get a second, more experienced opinion since I couldn't find much valuable information for my setup anywhere else, so thank you for your answer!

The 7700K is having major problems with heat. In fact Intel actually recommended to users to not overclock them when they spent the extra money to get an overclockable chip. Some users are reporting that de-liding the chip and replacing the thermal compound under the IHS gave them a 20C drop while overclocked.

Re-place the cooler and ignore Prime95 stress test, it creates temps that wouln't exist in the real world..

So these are bad temps / they shouldnt be this high?

I, and I seem not to be the only one, also get weird spikes when in idle in my temperature and load... sits at 29,30 and then spikes up to 35-40...

Edit: Updated the BIOS and it still persists
