Yah, definitely don't want to go with Ting xD

Looking at plans from Verizon or T-Mobile will be your best bet.

You can expect to pay about $80/month give or take.

Between $70 and $80/month

After you go over like 4GB/month you're pretty much going to have to go unlimited in terms of plans.

Welcome to 'Murica, where we bundle the crap out of everything and will charge a family of 4 $40/line and charge a single person $70-80 because screw you for being alone :D

Depending on where you'll be you can still get a phone but just use WiFi as much as possible :)

If you'll be on campus a lot then you'll have wifi most of the time, in which case look at Ting. You can always try it for a month, see where you're at usage wise and go from there.

If you do go with Ting, make sure to use the LTT code to get $25 :D

Most of it is. Still, say 35x the size for coverage area. That's still massive.

i dont know if you know this but most if not all uk mobile providers give you the same speed and coverage in the whole of europe, including mine. thats about 10 million kilometers squared, with 53 million people it could provide to at £10 a month. compared to the US with 9 million kilometers squared with about 320 million people at around £70 a month.

"So, you tell me which is a more significant number."

NB i dont care about this argument at all i legit just wanted to know about mobile providers in the us, thanks for all your help though lol

Not the same thing. Those companies aren't responsible for maintaining those networks, it's simply that the EU passed a law saying there's no roaming. You're trying to compare two entirely different things.

I hope you're going into Arts and not Business xD

not really, just that the EU said we cant get fucked up the arse by our providers whereas papa trump doesnt give a fuck.

EDIT: did the physics quote and astronomical image not give it away? im sorry you're upset that you have to pay high prices but acting like a condescending prick on the internet isn't going to change that

I have T Mobile. If your going to be in the metro area then they are fairly good. They have unlimited data plans, though tethering will be restricted to an extent. I know that On the TMobile One plan you get like 10gigs of 4G tethering. On the One Plus International Plan you get unlimited tethering I think, but its like 90USD a month. Im on an older T Mobile plan, but I can tell you in the Metro Detroit area where I live, I get at least 20Mbps down, if that matters to you at all.

Not sure what kind of phone you have, but AT&T and TMobile are our major GSM providers, they are the ones that will allow you to bring your own device generally.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
