Do cheap Chinese foam acoustic panels work?

Does the quality and density of the foam matter so much that cheap $1-$2 panels from China are not worth it? Or will a large amount of them still suffice?

It depends on where you buy it from. Ebay, Alibaba, Aliexpress.

It all comes from China. Cheaper foams may require more layers. More expensive foam is likely denser and absorbs impact/noise better.

It's all about specifications and who puts their name on the packaging. Origin of country is often less important with a product like foam.

AS OPPOSED to US RETAILORS who ALSO sell foam manufactured in CHINA for much more money. The questions is WHY pay more money. IS there any reason to? In case I have to spell that out.

Depends what you're using it for. Foam panels are of limited use even when they are "quality".

if an American seller gets caught selling harmful foam without a warning statement you can sue. If Chinese does that, idk if you can do anything.
