Is there any way to fix a Nexus 6p in bootloop without wiping it?

how do I tell?

 

It's just showing the google logo for a coupe seconds then rebooting, showing google logo, rebooting.....

well something has clearly happened to the OS, I don't think there is much chance of getting your data back if it wasn't backed up or stored in a cloud service somewhere already. 

 

I hear there are some 3rd party applications that you can use on your PC to recover your data but I would hesitate to use them personally.

Is the bootloader unlocked?

 

See if you can wipe dalvik cache

when I tried going into recovery mode, it just went back into the bootloop as described above.
