Hello, this is my first ever forum post on here so apologies if I fall foul of general etiquette.  A friend of mine kindly built a PC for me a few years ago however, sadly, is not available to help with an upgrade and I'm a bit clueless about it all.  Due to the recent Oculus price drop I was looking to upgrade my PC and would be grateful for some advice on what would be needed.  I don't need cutting edge, just reasonable enough grunt to run the rift.  My current parts list below, any advice is much appreciated:

  • Intel Core I5-4570 3.2ghz (haswell) socket LGA115
  • Corsair Carbide 200r Black Midi Tower Gaming Case
  • 1TB Seagate Barracuda ST 1000Dm003 SATA
  • Kingston 120gb SSDNow V300 Sata 3
  • MSI H87-G41 PC Mate Intel H87 (socket) DDR 3 A
  • Cruical 16gb 4x 4gb DDR3 1600 MT/s CL9@1.5V
  • 600w Corsair Builder Series 600CX 80Plus
  • Palit Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 OC 2GB GDDR5

Sorry if I've gone overkill on the parts list...I haven't a clue what's important and what isn't.

The only thing you need for comfortable VR is a new GPU above a 970.

AMD GPU's would be better with Rift since they can have a tech that allows them to interpolate frames just in case your GPU doesn't have enough for that moment.
