No? What happens then? I did the creators update, but is it different when doing it after a clean install?

Yes, it's different during clean install vs upgrade. Cortana comes on all happy, jolly, and crap.

Oh waow... I wouldn't have known, I use education edition and Cortana was disabled before the creators update. I was planning on using the bitch since they claim they've improved her but she is still useless xDD

sadly havent done creators update, only updated to it. might do one just to cringe out a bit

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Yup. Super annoying when you're trying to install it at work, and then the speakers start blaring, "blabla blabla whatever I'm saying no one who knows how to install Windows will care about, and you can't mute me till you get to a certain section".

There's a little speaker icon where you can disable her. Though why they think you want AI assistance to install windows (if you've gotten this far, you probs know what you're doing and don't need help), I don't know.

I know that speaker icon it's on the bottom right corner, you can see it right from the start. Just like your setup, I can't mute it until I get to a certain section. xD

Yup. Though AFAIK, Cortana did go rogue, so maybe that's why. Call MC, he'll know what to do.

I have. The idea was to make the OOBE (Out Of the Box Experience - the experience that one gets when buying a pre-built system, and starting for the first time), easier. The old way was found to be too complex and non-inviting for most users. Too much text, to many steps, to many technical terms.

With Cortana, the experience is more welcoming, looks simple, less things to go through without walls of text.

Fun fact, if you don't have the hardware for Cortana to work (lack of sound drivers for example or old system), you have the old setup look.

I'm beginning to think a lot of people who built their own PCs seem to forget they're a minority of PC users. The majority of users don't like it when they're given tons of things to configure and set up and Microsoft has to cater to the majority.

And in some cases, I don't want a ton of things to configure on the first time setup. If it's in the settings part of your OS and it's not vital for startup, then skip it and let me deal with it later rather than in the first time setup process.
