i5-3330 temperature

Hi guys,

Untitled.jpg.a0daa1fc02b5798c0669c02793dc021c.jpg

The above screenshot is captured when my PC is at IDLE, take a look at the temperature. 60+ degree Celsius during idle, core clock speed is 1600Mhz, is it thermal throttling? I thought the base clock is 3000Mhz?

Yeah, the case air flow is very bad, only one exhaust fan. I just want to ask if the readings from hardware monitor is definitely accurate?

Thank you.

If you're using the balanced power setting in Windows it'll downclock at idle situations. Though that said, your idle temps on your CPU are pretty high so you should see if it's dusty or not.

Its not really a problem, but still a little warm so you could clean, re-seat cooler and re-apply thermal paste if you wish.

Will turning to high performance plan making things better or worst?

Yeah, the case is dusty, heat sink fan dusty,

I shall clean it and see if it gets better.

High performance mode would make it run full speed all the time, though given that your stuff is pretty dusty right now, temps would only get worse. And of course the obligatory "BUT MEH FEW WATTS MORE POWER CONSUMPTION."

With 9% usage, these temps are not normal.
Must be under 40s ( on stock cooler )

Yeah those temps are really high for idle... Might want to clean out your system a bit

I cleaned the case, just restarted the pc.

But cpu temp still around 47 degree celsius, gpu around 50 degree.

ambient temp here is 30 degree.

Is it because of air flow in the case? I only got one rear exhaust fan, the case is a CoolerMaster 10yo case i guess, cant find the exact model.

Any possible software issue? It should not be right?

Anyhow I am going to upgrade the case and hardware in the next few months. so any temporary solution? Or just leave it as it is and don't do anything extreme?

This PC is just for my dad to watch youtube, look at some news and for me to game when I am home.

I guess the i5 has the stock cooler on it? If that's the case the temperature being around 47oC at idle is normal (going off my i5 4440) especially if there is only 1 exhaust fan. The machine I built for my friend sees similar temperatures with a single exhaust fan (120mm), 1 intake fan (80mm) and the PSU in the "attic" (1x 140mm low RPM fan).

The temp in your room is pretty high, well for me being from england anyway, You might wanna buy some more fans or a new case with more fans, just one exhaust isn't gonna do much. Thats like trying to tell me to to do something at 7 am... I'm never gonna get alot done... Same with that exhaust, its not doing much trying to take air out of something that hasn't got alot of it...

snip

try reseating the cooler and reapply thermal paste

while idling the CPU frequency may go down so it's normal

If it's a stock cooler then that seems close to normal.
