Key not working?

I downloaded Windows 8.1 from Microsoft Imagine so I can use it a VM machine. I was given a key to activate and now it's telling its not for it? 

 

 

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | CPU Cooler: Stock AMD Cooler | Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) | RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (4x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 | GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Zotac Mini | Case: K280 Case | PSU: Cooler Master B600 Power supply | SSD: 1TB  | HDDs: 1x 250GB & 1x 1TB WD Blue | Monitor: 24" Acer S240HLBID | OS: Win 11 Pro.

Make sure the key is for the specific version of Windows you've installed. So for example, you can't necessarily activate a Windows 8.1 Education installation with a Windows 8.1 Pro key. Microsoft Imagine has multiple versions on offer so make sure you have the correct one.

I downloaded the correct one, VMware was the issue, There are option to Which OS to choose, i think it chose Home as the default one. :P I reinstalled it and chose Pro. :D

Well, it was the config part. Where I chose the ISO. The VMware detects the OS, I believe it chose Home in stead of Pro

Oh. In my experience with VMware, it always tries to over-simplify things to a point where you can't get things done right.
