So here's the deal:

Got an "old" laptop (Sony VAIO Duo 13) from my father a coupe days ago. It had some Chinese programs installed and I removed them all. Went on configuring my browsers (Microsoft edge, Chrome) and removed baidu.com from settings and added some sites to favorites. After restating browser every time baidu.com resets changes search engine, browser settings, and startup tabs to baidu.com. I tried removing "spigot" folder and used CCleaner but still doesn't work. Plz help. It annoying to type addresses and passwords every time.

Do a format of the drive and reinstall an OS of your choice (whether that be Window or whatever Linux variant you like best).

While uninstalling and anti virus programs can help, a couple years of installing and uninstalling + lingering malware/viruses in the background is not nice.

Would never use the janky Windows install of a used computer. No matter how many times you try to clean it, who knows what is lurking. Reformating is the best route.

Might as well just do it since who knows what those Chinese programs installed.
