would I need to update the bios to put a 7600k on this MB?

yes, which cant be done without a skylake CPU.

 

I took my board to a tech store and they charged me $19.

According to the ASUS website, as long as you're running BIOS version 3007, it should be fine.

I'm not sure if the board has an EZ-Flash button. If it doesn't, you might need to find a surrogate CPU to update.

Yes - the board does not have the latest bios

No - the board does come with the latest bios

It's a great board, did a few builds on it and cheapest to have all of the features including SLI.

Might want to just grab a Z270

thanks guys I'm just going to go with a 6600k then thought id spend the extra for base freq but i only have 5820k and it wont fit this MB. building this for a friend currently in school actually my second surprise build for a friend pretty excited.
