What PSU is it exactly? It's a stretch but if it's a good PSU it should handle it.

Also, i don't recommend overclocking, maybe a light overclock could be possible but overvolting might be a bad idea.

I read review on tomshardware and peak power consumption for 1080ti is 295w 6700k is 100w.

Does motherboard and ssd consume a lot of power?

If you can afford an i7 and a 1080ti you can afford an equally good psu.

every single thing in your pc consumes some power. fans, drives, any other cards, everything connected to usb - mouse, keyboard, etc... i think you will be able to play play some easy stuff but I am sure you will get "random" shutdowns

Go have a look at PCPartPicker, assemble your system and have a look at the estimated power consumption. With 1 SSD and 1 hybrid HDD, 16GB of RAM I end up with ~447W … there're basically no reserves left and a sub-premium psu will most likely be already above its limit as manufactures often exaggerate their power ratings. If you have $700+ for a gpu you'll find another $100 for a decent psu!

Yes. I've ran a 6700k, 980Ti reference (same rated TDP as 1080Ti) on a Corsair CX450M for a while as my VR system. I later reduced power consumption by swapping the GPU with a 1070, to be on the safe side, but had no problems while the 980Ti was in there. Things in theory might get a bit close if you run everything to the max, but under realistic gaming loads that's not usual.
