Does this happen with all browsers, or just Internet Explorer.

If it's in a browser try deinstall it completely and search for the folders containing your browser data.

Too find all folders i used "Search Everything" a nice programm workes like windows search index but faster.

Go into programs and features, sort after install date, remove suspicious content.

Now reinstall you browser.

If it worked, thank my magic crystal ball. If it did't we need more info.

Correct me if i'm wrong, learning is a lifelong mission

This redirect is most times installed in the browser itself and it is why you are not seeing it as a running process and i assume you are using Chrome but i have seen it in Firefox too. Try opening Chrome then go to settings then scroll to On Startup, here is where you will see the redirect, you will need to delete the entry and then select Open New Tab.

Now i do know this type comes from those rotten porn sites so stop visiting those rubbish sites, spend your time wisely.

Run malwhere bytes. If it's a root kit then it may block the install of malwerbytes; in that case you will need to reinstall windows. There are probably workarounds but there is no telling in the other damage it has/may do.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Rootkit? It might just be adware virus, which pops ads up only and nothing more..  There are people out there who make money off of it..

Those viruses are commonly "harmless", other than popping up ads which would help someone make loads of $$$ :)
