M.2 Drives..

Zeighe

I have an AsRock z270 Extreme4 mobo, my question is this: The prices of M.2 ssd's varies so much, I'm not sure what brand or drive to choose. Maybe quality affects the price? Any guidance on the best quality/size kind of ratio would be much appreciated! Ideally I'd be looking in the 120gb-240gb range as I'm only planning on using the M.2 drive as a boot drive...Thanks in advance.

Some M.2 SSDs are Sata, meaning they are limited to Sata 3 speeds. Some are NVMe, meaning they are limited to the speed of whatever is advertised

I'd go with the MX300 for that size, unless you want the speeds of the 960 EVO, but they're not that noticeable.

I bought a 960 Evo 500GB for Windows and some primary daily use stuff.  There is almost no load time.  On amazon it was around $230 or so.  You can get a 250GB for about half that on there.

Honestly I'd go for the crucial, it;s not that much slower, and you can get twice the capacity for the same price last time I checked.

I WANT TO LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT!

If I'm wrong, please make me look like an idiot so everyone can learn from my wrongness.
