Hi,

This is my planned build for march 2014, will be used for light gaming, light video renderring and general school work:

PCPartPicker part list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/28cy8

Price breakdown by merchant: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/28cy8/by_merchant/

Benchmarks: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/28cy8/benchmarks/

CPU: AMD FX-8120 3.1GHz 8-Core Processor (£114.99 @ Maplin Electronics)

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£59.00 @ Amazon UK)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£66.25 @ Amazon UK)

Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 60GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£39.39 @ Amazon UK)

Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7770 2GB Video Card (£99.99 @ Amazon UK)

Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case (£85.00 @ Aria PC)

Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£54.62 @ Amazon UK)

Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer (£13.18 @ Scan.co.uk)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) (£65.99 @ Aria PC)

Total: £598.41

Reasons:

Cpu: Best I could get for my money, friend is getting a 4670k and I thought this was closer than a 6 core.

Mobo: It has everything that I need it to have (RemoteGO seems awsome, I can acces my pc from my phone/tablet)

RAM: I love the corsair vangeance ram, looks good, trusted brand, easy to upgrade, fast, good compatability.

Ssd: would prefer to have a 120gb but I couldnt fit it in budget, I will be getting a 1tb Westrn Digita caviar blue or a seagate barracuda in the future.

Video card: Seems like the best for under £100, looked at the gtx 650 but apparently is bad value for money.

Case: Wanted a clean look, with a window, room for a h100i, relativly cheap. Love the look.

PSU: Good for builders, I was advised that I need to have atleast a 550w to run a gpu but 600w is fine.

Os: Dont need to explain why, mqybe get 8 instead.

Any reccomendations are welcpme but please justify why.

My budget is £600-£610 MAX

Brit,

Edit: changed CPU to a 8350 instead of a 8120, better ghz for the money.

I see you were thinking of the carbide 300r windowed... good to avoid, I mean it has good look and great build quality but it's loud as hell and dust gets in everywhere even with positive pressure - she leaks like a net. Anyways, I would swap the 8120 with the 8320 as from some shops it is cheaper, and scrap the optical drive and put the savings to better graphics card or bigger ssd if that's priority for you. If you're not a silence freak then a cheaper case may suffice (ironic considering what i said at start, but budgets do weird things to ppl...) which you could also add the savings of to graphics card/ssd. Other then that it looks like a solid build for the price.

Awkward build.

Nevertheless, plan later. March is a while from now and parts/prices will be quite different by then.

Plan at most 2-3 days before you buy.

Whats awkward about it? And could you recommend a better part for the money?
