GTX 1060 + HDMI to VGA adapter

Hello everyone

I bought a new GTX 1060 3gb, but I have to use it with an old monitor that has only a vga port , because I wont get a new monitor until two months from now,
And luckily I have an active HDMI to vga adapter that I had been using with an R7 370 and I was working perfectly,

but when I try to use it with this 1060 it works for about 10mins, and after that the screen starts turning black for 2 sec every 5 sec,

I thought that the adapter was bad, but I reinstalled the r7 370 and used that adapter with it and it worked just fine, but I does not with the 1060,

So, do you guys have any idea whats causing the problem ?? will a DP to VGA adapter work in this case ?

Thanks in advance

dp to vga is usually passive, and iirc pascal doesnt have analog dvi (well my 1070 doesnt, so)

DDU and retry?

does windows work even though no monitor is connected (try sound)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I know pascal does not support analog anymore, but the adapter I have is active, also I forgot to mention that I didnt have the chance to even install the driver because of the screen turning black so I dont think its a driver problem,

And for the dp to vga adapter I was talking about is like this one https://www.amazon.com/Accell-DisplayPort-VGA-Active-Adapter/dp/B003HC85D2

try using another computer and get the drivers off nividas website and use the usb drive on your pc with the 1060, you may just have to wait with the 5 sec black screen.

I tested it in my friends pc and it worked just fine with a dvi cable although he already has the driver installed, also I had a small problem when I try to install the driver it says that its no compatible with my version of windows, and Im using win10 64bit and the driver I downloaded from nvidia website says that its for win10 64bit, now Im thinking of reinstalling windows and retry

Try using the onboard VGA but you may want to enable the igpu in the bios

I believe I can use the onboard VGA without any problem, but I dont that would help, because when I remove the 1060 and use r7 370 everything works just fine
