Not positive but I'd guess probably not. Jacks like that one meant for instruments are often specialized and won't take a standard stereo signal like you would want to use as an input.

No. The instrument jack is an input.

The only outputs are the headphone jack or the two RCAs on the back.

What about the switch that changes the impedance? if i were to set the to line and then plug in the adapter and cable?

Not sure what you mean. It's not a matter of impedence, the jack just won't be compatible with the input you'd use for music.

How would it be incompatible? it is a 6.25mm jack, so if I take this and plug it in, then plug in the regular 3.5mm cable to the 3.5mm end of that adapter, what is stopping it from working?

Honestly, I'm not sure, that's just what I've experienced. I have a Xenyx Q502 USB mixer, and the single port Line In input, which is meant for instruments, will work with my guitar amp but nothing else, whereas the other dual port Line In inputs, meant for a normal dual quarter-inch stereo input, work just fine with my phone, PC or whatever else. Not sure why but that's just what I've seen.

You can use the direct monitor for listening to music, set focusrite as playback device, does that accomplish what you want?
