Hello, I am going to buy my first mechanical keyboard in a few weeks time :D!! But I don't know what I should buy... can someone recommend me something? I want a brown or red mechanical keyboard since I mainly game, I also want backlight because I need to look at my keyboard to type(its a bad habit, I know but I have been doing this for years and I have no choice) and I don't really need macros because I am going to buy a mouse with macros on it, so no need for more. Also I never ever used my numpad for anything because I'm okay with the top layer of munbers and I hardly use excel or anything like that. I have a budget of maybe USD100, may go higher, also I can only buy from amazon because I live in Singapore and only Amazon has free international shipping, so nothing from newegg. Thanks in advance and please tell me if I have missed out any important imformation.

corsair k70, because of your budget.

I have the K60. It would be perfect if it was backlit.

I was going to say maybe the CM storm Quickfire TK.  It's got a backlight, and you can usually get one for around 85 USD, which would be something like SGD 106.  It comes in Browns or reds like you wanted.  The one drawback I can see is the weird layout.  It has like a num-pad/arrow key hybrid layout, which would take some getting used to, but I don't think I would too big a deal.

I'd like to say that, if its at all possible, you should try out different switches before you buy a mechanical keyboard.  Red or brown switches arent necessarily for gaming.  At the end of the day its just a keyboard and the type of switches probably won't give you a competitive edge in games.

With that said, i like my corsair k90, because I personally prefer red switches for the light actuation force required and linear, non tactile action (sorry purists).

By your description a QuickFire Rapid would be the best option. But maybe you might want to buy a sampler kit from WASDKeyboards or go to a store and try them out if they have MKBs there. I personally think that Browns happen to be the easiest transition from membrane and it seem to be from the studies I did with my friends, but it could be any switch.

Try them out!

Dec. 1 is when they expect to release it, I assume you can wait. It would probably be the best since you can return $15 (assuming you get a Cooler Master keyboard) and it's in a encasement so it'll be much more similar to the actual typing experience.
