PC Black screening after a few minutes of use

I just build a new pc everything seemed to be fine, and working properly.

Then i installed windows and it booted just fine. after a few minutes of use, it would all of a sudden black screen, and when i restarted it would not be booting properly anymore.

i have tried everything i could find on the web, but nothing seemed to work.
Then if i reinstalled windows it would work fine for a few minutes then do the same thing.
my bet is that the graphics card is toast.
but if anyone on here have an idea to what is happening i'm happy to try. :)

Thx in advance

no error message or anything

Just quote me or tag me: @Zando Bob so I can see you replied. Did you update the BIOS on your mobo? 100-series mobos won't work with Kaby Lake unless they have an updated BIOS. And that PSU is not very good, but since it's new, I doubt it's the problem. That'd be a question for @STRMfrmXMN or @Energycore.

@Zando Bob i have not updated the bios, i will most deff try that, i will let you know if it works

You may need a Skylake CPU to do that, though since it manages to boot, that may not be the problem. Is everything plugged in correctly? And have you seated the CPU cooler properly, with thermal paste and everything? If the CPU overheats, it'll make your computer shut off instantly.

@Zando Bob well it boots on first try when freshly installed windows, but i just started the update of the bios, might take a few minutes before the usb is ready tho, everything is plugged in like it should, and i can also boot in safe mode, if i reinstall windows i can also boot and use the pc for about 5-10 mins before black screening again. and yes the cpu cooler is on properly, and the temps max out at around 60 degrees Celcius.

Good. Only other thing I can think of is the PSU, but it's new, so it shouldn't be throwing a fit.

He said max. @Kroggen, is that the max idle temp? Or is that the max temp while running an intensive task?

Hmmm. Can it make it through a benchmark? I'd like to see what the temps are a 100% CPU and GPU. 58C may be a little high for 50% usage, but then my CPU is a Pentium and barely makes heat.

You're installing the latest Windows 10? It shouldn't cause you to have to reinstall Windows to get it to boot.

Hmmm. Is the 1060 plugged in correctly? It should need at least one 6 pin connection.

The latest BIOS for that board is from April so it's plausible that it supports Kaby Lake. And yes, the VS series is not very good.

Gets to about 90 under load on a table with average weather...

Can you run everything just fine with the iGPU? Or does it crash as well? If it's stable, then RMA the dGPU.
