How to change RCA to 3.5 ?

INSANE-HOOLIGAN

Hi everyone ,,

I found an old speakers that works just fine and I want to use it for my laptop via the regular 3.5 mm stereo

But the problem is that the speakers output is RCA -I dont know if thats what its called- so here is a picture of the speaker's output :

So my question is : How do I change that to a 3.5 mm ? would it work if I just cut the cable and attach it to a 3.5 mm that I cut  from a broken heaset ?

Thank you...

I mean it works in theory, as long as you can work out which wires are associated with which channels.

I edit my posts a lot.

You are correct, it is called RCA and OP, if you don't have an adapter or can't buy one then you just can't connect it to a 3.5mm directly, you can also use say a small amp with RCA outs and 3.5mm in but then you would also have to buy that too and that is more expensive than an adapter.

You would need a Female RCA to male 3.5mm Y adapter. If you're splitting just one connection, you'd need a Female RCA to male 3.5mm adapter. You're better off buying it at a dollar store instead of trying to make one. They're really cheap and I'm sure you wouldn't need to spend more than $3-$4 for one.
