Ryzen 5 Overclocking on X370

Hey guys, so when I overclock my ryzen 5 1600x on my asrock x370 gaming k4 (atx) motherboard, it sticks to a fixed frequency. It doesn't drop the frequency when idle and it doesn't boost any higher with xfr and precision boost. Is there a way to overclock and achieve this.

That's how Ryzen overclocking works. Overclocking disables turbo boost and XFR and also results in a fixed frequency.

 

There is a way around, it it's called p state overclocking. However, as outlined in this video it's really not worth the effort.

 

 

EDIT: Just a note, p state won't restore XFR or turbo or anything. It'll just let your CPU reduce frequency while idling.

First of all wrong section. Secondly don't use the task manager to verify your CPU's frequency.

Use CPU-Z or a similar program.

cpu-z says the same thing
