Im about to go and guy a gtz 1060 as i just sold my rx 580 to bitcoining for about £310 after buying it for less than £200. Im upgrading to ryzen and was wondering for what i will be doing does it matter which motherboard/chipset i get. Im basically gaming with one gpu and you standard, usb 3 and sata storage. Only thing i can see is no overclocking on the a320. Im between a320 and b350, baring in mind im on a budget. Not sure if it will really be worth oc support for what im doing anyway, dont even have a cooler right now either.

I was looking at the ryzen 5 1400 :(. Im a peasant lol.

The am4 socket will be supported for awhile so it would be smart to invest in a board that can overclock that way you can oc not only your current cpu but even other cpus that you get in the future that use am4.

what do you have now?

Athlon 860k. Its literally about to turn to dust  probably. Its bottlenecking my rx 580 right now SOOOOO hard. And soon to be my gtx 1060. Need to upgrade 100% I need like £30 and i can upgrade, i gotta get this new gpu today. Then the cpu, mobo and ram. LOL. so annoying that i have to upgrade mobo and ram xD Should be able to sell off my old stuff in a combo maybe. Get like £80 for it hopefully. Speak to the family later see if i could borrow some money xD

I rate that idea! Could be worth it!

Idk what prices are like in the uk but that seems pretty standard for a cheap 8 gig stick.

I would get either the Zotac or the Asus card. The Asus one is slightly better but also slightly more. Idk how much the Asus one with the better cooler will help with overclocking on a 1060 but it will help with heat for sure and likewise noise

Looks like its out of stock most places the asus. Just looking though, the gigabyte one has the highest clocks of them all.

I thinks its going to be between the zotac and the gigabyte minis.

  • 1506MHz Base/1708MHz Boost Clock ZOTAC
  • vs
  • 1531MHz GPU, 1746MHz Boost GIGABYTE

gigabyte wins there.

Also im seeing that a website says it should be getting some dual fan style cards in tomorrow. Im trying to find out now if that is definate. https://www.cclonline.com/product/214683/GEFORCE-GTX-1060-3GT-OC/Graphics-Cards/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1060-3GB-OC-Graphics-Card/VGA3593/

I like how this thread has changed topic lol

That doesn't mean anything as with gpu boost 3.0 it will auto-overclock higher than that. My 1070 clocked at 1980 mhz out of the box without touching anything and most likely the same will be true with any of the 1060s you buy. If you can't get the Asus get the Zotac because it's the cheapest.

Yeah, fair enough, Doesnt really mean much i can save myself £10.

What about this one though?

Still looks really thin heatsink though:(

Think ill go for the zotac considering the price.

BUT i just realised its going to take upto 1-2 weeks to come. I will be without a gpu for that long, i wouldnt be able to play games. cant do that really.

Hmm. Well like I said the only thing that matters for gtx 1060 is the cooling solution.
