Decent 400w PSU

So the 300w HP PSU is kinda making me nervous as it approaches its 4th year of service. So I kinda need/want a new and quality 400w PSU that wont blow up. Somewhere in the 30 to 35$ range. Maybe count in for potential CPU upgrade and GPU upgrade (Probrably a 970 because they are cheap used)

it doesn't have proprietary connectors does it?

I have heard quite bad things about Corsair's CX line of PSU's and I dont trust that 20$ PSU

Nope, I got lucky that HP used standard connectors

You're probably thinking of the CX/CXm green label PSUs, which are quite terrible. (except the CX430 I think.) 

 

The CX and CXM with a grey label are surprisingly good.

Huh, Yeah I was thinking the green label ones, Ill see about the CXM PSU's. That 40$ price tag is a little concerning though

Grey label CXM units and the new CX series are pretty good, according to the leading authority: @STRMfrmXMN

Huh, Yeah ill check it out, I mostly trust Corsair so ill give them a chance

I would get a Corsair CXM (gray label) or a Seasonic S12 II.

I mean, apart from the fact that HP PSUs are usually made by Delta and are pretty solid...

Yep its all Standard except for probably the motherboard connections for the case buttons but that is it
