Posted June 19, 2017 Hello! I'm looking to buy a used Gigabyte GTX 460 1 GB graphics card for 20 € and my question is that, is a 500w PSU enough for the GPU? My PC parts are: 8 GB RAM 1x8 2133 Mhz, i3 6100, Windows 10 Home 64bit and AcBell 500w PSU. Thank you!
 Posted June 19, 2017 Would be able to. You can run a 1080 Ti off a 550W PSU, so you should be good as long as you have the right cables to plug in the GPU. Posted June 19, 2017 Heck, even 200W is enough.
Posted June 19, 2017 Nvidia recommended at least a 450W PSU, but this was in the days where an i7 920 had a 130W TDP. Your i3 is sipping power at a 51W TDP. So a 500W PSU should be more than enough. 21 minutes ago, WereCat said: Heck, even 200W is enough. The GTX 460 at full load draws ~160W. Considering you want a 15-25% buffer to account for inefficiency, this is barely enough to power the GTX 460 alone, much less the entire system. Posted June 19, 2017 500W should be enough, but you should also consider the PSU's efficiency, if it is very bad it may only deliver like 70% of that 500W to the system
