i7 7500u Temps

So..

A day ago I got the HP Envy 13, not the new one coming out in a few days but the old one (currently on sale) there was a number of reasons for this but mainly price becuase microsoft somehow had it on their store for 200£ off and then i got a student discount on top of that so I'm real chuffed!

 

I have noticed during some light gaming such as Prison Architect etc where I have limited the FPS to 60 that the laptop performs well at QHD Resolution. Temps are all fine etc. 

 

However when doing more demanding tasks such as UNINSTALLING VISUAL STUDIO 2017?!?!?!

The temps reached  a toasty 86 Degrees Celsius.

 

With it being a i7 7500u what do you guys think the max temps should be? And is it safe in the high 80 degrees C?

Yes it can, I think if I'm not wrong these will only throttle at 106Cº and emergency shut down is at 113Cº, 80ish degrees might not be desirable in the regards of raw longevity but the processor IS made to work at the temperature.

Desktop Intel CPUs will throttle at 100c. My XPS 13's 6560u throttled at 90c. I imagine the 7500u also throttles at 90c.

Turning the laptop off at these sorts of temps? I would stop all CPu intensive tasks and let the fans run to cool it down rather than no fans at an off state!
