Etheteum mining software recommendations, suggestions, and mining setup advice

Hello

I've been thinking over the idea of using my computer (specs in signature) to mine some Ethereum, the hottest cryptocurrency right now.

My question is what program(s) would I use to mine Ethereum, and If you have any advice and suggestions to give me, go for it, I'll consider them before getting me a slice of the pie.

You mine zcash with nvidia. Eth with AMD.

Nicehash miner -> get BTC wallet (they pay you in BTC) -> bench equihash and lbry -> pick which one is more profitable -> start.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I've read a bit into this, and as far as I can tell, unless you have specialised hardware it is probably best just to sell your GPU time to the highest bidder with a software like NiceHash. The setup is pretty simple, get a BTC wallet (eg with coinbase), unpack the NiceHash rar to a folder of your likeing. Insert the BTC wallet address into the address field in the settings, start the benchmarks, wait for them to complete, and start mining. with a Titan X you will probably get your first payment within 10 days, and it should be more than 50$ :)

You don't need to, in the default config the NiceHash program picks the most profitable for you at any given time :)

You have to benchmark it to get results. For me on a 1070, only equihash and lbry make any money (>$2)

Yeah, benchmark for like 5minutes and let it pick for you. With my 1080 it varies over the day which is most profitable, 90% of the time I am mining LBRY, and about 9% of the time Lyra2, the rest is less than half a percent each. I don't want to micro manage my miner, so I just let the software do the work for me :D

I get a payout of about 6€ a day, which corresponds to a profit of about 4.50€ a day, so about 135-ish€ a month

1070, it's equihash all the day. $5 USD a day..

Use Nicehash or a dedicated Zcash miner like ZecMiner for nvidia cards. The difference between mining ETH vs Zcash can be as high as 40% additional profits mining ZEC over ETH on nvidia.

Nicehash is super simple to use, just need a BTC address, benchmark all the algorithms, pick the one with the highest BTC/day (may want to check each day to make sure you're maximizing your return) and start mining.

ZecMiner requires additional setup and the extra step to get paid (that is turning ZEC into BTC on an exchange like Poloniex, then sending that BTC to an exchange that turns BTC into realworld money, like Coinbase. For this additional setup though will be able to make about 9-10% more profits per day over just using Nicehash.

Have fun :P

For reference I can either make $6.30 per day using Nicehash or $6.74 a day with ZecMiner :P

On what Hardware? And are you mining on the EU, or the US server?

Ok, whatever that means... But why micromanage, when it is more work and by definition less efficient?

I am mining ZEC from this pool: https://zec.suprnova.cc/
My GPU is an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X with stock settings.

I get similar results (converted 6.90$ currently) on my watercooled FE at about 2.05GHz

Nice :D

Currently I'm mining to make my GPU pay for itself and cuz 21-23 hours of the day it isn't being used so may as well. Thinking of making a dedicated mining rig sometime in the future though :)

I make $5 a day.

The only coin worth mining for me is zcash, using equihash.

I don't need to micromanage. I just check only that one.

Anything else is $2+ worse per day ($5 with equihash)

That'd mean, that the american market is quite a bit different from the european one, since the 1070 is just a downscaled 1080

Okay so I decided to get ZECMiner for ZCash, now how do I set up the BTC address so I can get down to business?

Sorry if these questions sound dumb, I'm a total noob at this :P

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I decided that I'm going to try ZCash, but where would I find the amount of ZCash that I mined up. Here's a screenshot that I'm providing with the screen that I'm on right now. I have the batch files, and the .exe file to run the program to start the mining process, but again, where would I find the ZCash that I am going to end up mining?

The coinmine, fypool, miningpoolhub, nanopool, nicehash, and supernoca batch files are the batchfiles to mine on those selected pools. I would recommend right-clicking, select edit and change the relevant settings to which pool you feel like mining from.

Okay. I'll be trying out NiceHash Miner for some time (It does BTC by default). If you know how to change the node to ZCash or whatever other currency, please let me know of it. I'm currently benchmarking right now to see which node is the best.

I'll keep that noted ;)

Nicehash isn't the same as just mining Zcash. Nicehash is very easy to use and mine for, but ZecMiner requires more setup but will yield more profits (9-10%). Use whatever fits you best for your situation :P
