How to make windows 10 not suck?

So after E3, there are a shit ton of games I want to play (mainly Metro Exodus HYPE HYPE) However, since microsoft are a bunch of assholes, they have locked most of their new releases to the windows 10 store, meaning, if i want to play one of these games, i need windows 10. Windows 10 (imo) is a piece of shit with a ton of shitty features that no one asked for, massive invasion of privacy, and a ton of other shady shit from this [redacted] of a company. So, is there a way I can make this [redacted] operating system bearable? Is there a way to remove useless junk like Cortana and increase my privacy (ie, not have microsoft send all my data to everyone)?

If you don't like the features of Win10 then don't use it; hide Cortana, change the privacy settings and stuff. Technically you can't remove the features but just by not using it basically makes it disabled.

AFAIK microsoft still transmits all your data to anyone regardless of what you choose, i also dont want cortana AT ALL. EVER. I dont want an always listening bot on my pc, thats some 1984 bullshit.

Install Classic Shell (For Win 7 Start button) and say your location is Croatia. No cortana.

You can't kill cortana. It's part of a core program or something and when you kill it, windows dies...

The main problem is I don't trust microsoft at all. Sure It'll say "off", but theyre the type of company thatd make sure something is always listening and transmitting.

Thats not the point. I don't want my data being transmitted, i don't want to be always watched, I don't want to always be listened to. I just want to have my god damn privacy.

You can't block anything via HOST file, as it ignores it (else it would be too easy for malware to redirect systems to post the telemetry data to their servers instead). So go under Settings > privacy > Turn off everything under General, then disable the "get to know me" features under Speech, Inking, Typing (in the case your use Cortana via voice, have a digitize pen and use ink to text, or have a touch screen to type or use the spell checker), turn off App Diagnostics, and set to Basic Feedback option. And then disable Windows telemetry service, program compatibility service, and error reporting.

 

Like I said, or tried to, you can reduce them to the max, and avoid using any Microsoft services (and make a local account, not a MS joined one)."

As I said earlier, you're just overthinking all of the possiblities microsoft can do. So far, I haven't heard any news from my friends about MS invading their privacy.

I'd move to linux, but I'm a gamer, and it just doesnt have 100% compatibility like windows. I know I could run windows in a vm or something, but then Id still be using windows,. and still having the problems.

No, i'm serious, there's a W10 version for the chinese government that allegedly has much more privacy settings than any other W10 version out there.

The chinese gov did take a look at the W10 source code so they know what BS is going on and MS made a version that does what the gov want, that's why it's a thing.

You'll need at least Xeon E5 8 core with HT to run a good gaming VM and unRAID and very very strong GPU for gaming VM.
