GTX 1080 & Equihash - Low hashrate?

The EWBF miner is included in the "3rdpartyminers.zip".

So I'm not entirely sure but I feel my GTX 1080 is underperforming while mining, and am curious if anybody knows what I might be doing wrong?

I'm currently getting approx. 430~ Sol/s, which seems to be 40-70 Sol/s slower than I'm seeing some other users report. For reference, I'm using NiceHash on Windows 10 and have my GTX 1080 running at 2,012MHz and +150 on mem. Cooling isn't an issue since I'm not seeing the card report even 50C under its watercooler.

Memory does appear to be running lower, according to Afterburner, it's only running 4666MHz compared to the 5150MHz I have it overclocked for, but I'm not sure how much that's affecting it.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Nvidia strikes again.

Also dont mine if you want your GPU to last more than a few years.

Not terribly concerned, even after mining, I'll have a new GPU before this one burns out. Or before the warranty goes out, whichever comes first.

The problem is the miner that nicehash uses for equihash (Zcash). I also get 475 sol/s with a 1080 on nicehash but using ewbf's cuda miner I get 550+.

Wow, yea I got a pretty significant difference moving to ewbf. About 100 sol/s difference. I'm assuming nicehash can't use ewbf?

I don't know why nicehash doesn't use ewbf, but ofc nicehash is more convenient cause it pays in straight bitcoin rather than zcash (the official zcash wallet is only on linux).

Thanks a bunch, man. I saw one post mentioning EWBF had support added to whatever current version I'm using but I couldn't find a way to get it. Really appreciate it.

I agree you should use EWBF's ZecMiner for mining Zcash with an Nvidia card. I get 512-550 Sol/s on Zec but only about 460-470 on Nicehash. For profit per day its about 10% lower than Zec. Only thing I would mention is that Nicehash pays out if BTC directly so its pretty easy to just mine and get paid where as using ZecMiner you get paid to a ZEC wallet, then need to exchange it on an exchange like Poloniex to BTC, then transfer the BTC to another service like Coinbase to get paid with it.

Personally I don't mind the extra steps for 10% higher profit/day :P
