uhhhh I'm not sure, I would just see if theres any tweaking software or something and try to change the keys back to their defaults.  You could also check the control panel and try to find any settings that might help.

Do you have any other keyboards you can try? If so try swapping and see if it's the keyboard or your computer.

Also, try a different USB port. Maybe the port is having issues.

An issue with the driver is my best guess. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? (if there are any)

try installing a virtual keyboard, that will tell if it's the OS or the keyboard driver

Someone else mentioned try the windows on-screen keyboard to see if the problem is in there.  If the keyboard has on board memory it's likely there's something set up in there in which case you'd download the software for the keyboard from the product webpage to see what's up.  Keyboard powering down/up the computer can also be an option set up in the bios.

  • 7 years later...

hi
I had the same problem (if I press windows key my pc shuts down) and I opened on-screen keyboard application and pressed windows key on the the on-screen keyboard application (not on the physical keyboard) and it opened start menu not shutdown my pc and I pressed again and again like 10 times in the on-screen keyboard application and it didn't shutdown my pc and I closed the on-screen keyboard application and tried pressing on the physical keyboard and it didn't turn of my pc! it opened the start menu!
and I thought of sharing this method with you guys so that you guys can also try if it solves the problem
hope it solves 🙂
