If the CPU is running hot, get an AIO liquid cooler, like an H80i.

Maybe a new case? A few zip ties to clean up the cables?

Also, posting the specs would be helpful with upgrade opinions.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

I'd start with a nice cooler, then nice cables for the HX, then see what it looks like with that. Somewhere to hide the SSD would be good IMO.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

for cooler get a noctua nh u12p can be good, you can find one for cheap.

for aesthetic

- sleeving and zip ties will make it look better

- get a good RGB controller NZXT Hue for 30 to 40$

- cheap 10$ RGB LED from Amazon or eBay

- your friend can color components to make it look nicer

Then get him and install for him an AIO cpu cooler, zip tie some cables to clean it al up, and let him use it until he complains or until it dies.

depends on which version of the case, you can also do a window mod.

If it is a Phantom, it's a Phantom 210, which it does look like, assuming the front panel is off. I'd recommend getting a new case, but I wouldn't bother getting something unless he can get a nice, good quality case with a tempered glass window. You can get an RGB LED strip for like $10-15 ez. Obviously don't buy a Noctua CPU cooler to improve aesthetics, but you'll definitely want to upgrade cooler to improve aesthetics since stock Intel is ugly af. You can just buy cable extensions, no need to get a full kit, extensions are cheaper anyway. Looks like an LGA1155 motherboard, so I'm assuming he has a 4th gen i5 in there?

Ask him to download Speccy to find out his system specs, then we can help better.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - M9i 48.4 CFM CPU Cooler  ($24.66 @ DirectCanada)
Case: Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400S TEMPERED GLASS ATX Mid Tower Case  ($119.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Other: Phanteks RGB LED Combo ($19.89)
Other: Phanteks Cable extensions ($47.99)
Total: $212.53

I included red extensions since the motherboard has some red on it, but you can get different colours. You could also probably manage to get some extensions from Silverstone or something for a little cheaper.

Yup, just plug them in to the cables you already have, they're just extensions lol.

You plug the LED strip in to the P400(s) and use the button on the case to change the colour, and it will change with the case LEDs. Or you could get an alternative RGB LED strip that has a controller to change colours. I just included the Phanteks one because it matched the case and extensions, and was one of the first I seen on Newegg.ca lol.

Yeah, I was thinking Z87/Z97, it does look like that era of Gigabyte board.

i am directly quoting him

" I want the cool led things that make it do that cool rainbow shit "

I am assuming the controller on the P400 can't do that - is it able to plug into the mobo (let's hope his mobo has a spot for it) and then i could install some software to make the leds do the cool rainbow shit
