Help!

Ok so i recently got a MacBook Air and the mic/ headphone combo jack for some reason can't record an external mic. Well, it's a quarter inch cable running through an adapter that can plug into the computer. So I was looking at a Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter. Would that solve my problem? Or would the Mac still not recognize it as a microphone?

I delive there's a MIDI software utility on Mac you may need to configure, but IDK much about a mic on Mac, but it seems to work with the inline mic on headphones.

I don't really know, I've just opened it and been confused, then closed it. I'd bet Apple has a tutorial page for it somewhere, or there's a YouTube vid on it.

Strange. Does it see it in GarageBand? Does the mic need an external power cable? It's wired it's not working, as Apple advertises peeps using MacBooks with GarageBand for this very thing.

Oh. You've tried an adapter for the headphone jack on the MacBook?

Nope. I just need to know if like it would recognize it as a device or just ignore it. In theory it should, but idk if Apple has deliberately done something in the software to prevent it

I don't see why not. It is the Audio out/Mic in combo port, so it should work. And if they disabled it, then they couldn't advertise people using the Mocs they sell one their own site for GarageBand. I'm 99% sure it'll work. Just get the adapter with Amazon Prime, and you can return it if it doesn't work.
