Open up the laptop, look at the ram.

The sticker on the ram stick tells you what it is. Just buy what the sticker says

That should tell you what you have now, then decide whether you can just add more to your laptop eg 1 spare slot, or whether you would have to change them out. It will definitely be so-dimm ram

DDR3L SODIMM's. I'd check to see if your laptop has enough RAM slots to be upgraded if you plan on keeping whats already in there. 

 

If you look on ebay you should find 8gb kits fairly cheap.

My laptop can be upgraded I checked shortly after reading this comment. It has a 4GB  1R x 8 in the slot already and one free slot.

If you want a suggestion for RAM, I have Corsair Vengeance running in both my laptop and my girlfriend's Mac Mini and it's fantastic.
