PCI-E V8.0 EXP GDC External Laptop Notebook Video Card Laptop Docking Station

 

Hello. I do not know if this topic has been spoken in Linus forums.

 

But i request to give a try to this amazon modding piece to believe that is real.

 

Some people had try this and they show that is true than we can use the wifi serial port in an old laptop in order to attach an external gpu.

 

Someone tell Linus to try it please.

Do you have a link for this? What do you mean by wifi serial port?

If so, it uses PCIE, which is a parallel communication standard, not serial and connects to the internal pcie slot for a wireless card.

I doubt if it will work well. A LAN module only gives 1000 MegaBits of data per second. That's 125MegaBytes of data per second. On the contrary, a PCIe 1.0 x16, which is nearly an antique (13 years old) among technology, provides 4GigaBytes per second, 16 times the data transfer speed.

 

If you actually install a eGPU with that, the graphical horsepower will still be limited. Moreover, it's not guaranteed to work, especially on older hardware.
