Alex, I made an account just to say "GO TERPS!" I was in Terps Racing '16 but for Formula. Keep up the good work.

All about that Memorial Baja haha, Formula seems really cool too but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense in Newfoundland where there aren't any race tracks but heaps of bogs and mud pits to thrash

If I have time tonight I will run 3dmark01se on my P3 1Ghz with an ATI 9800 pro Win 98 SE PC I have for retro gaming. Sure my GPU would be "cheating" but my MB does not have on board video.

Id love to see Linus pop in a PCI GPU into this puppy. I’m pretty sure Geforce 6000 cards had PCI versions still.

EDIT: Turns out my P3 win98 PC just crashes on the first test in 3dmark 2k1. I think my GPU is going bad :((it was getting 80fps at 1024x768 before it crashed). I may try installing XP on another HDD later because turns out win 98 actually kind of sucks butt so it may not be my GPU. I am way to lazy to do that this week though.

EDIT 2: I reinstalled ATI drivers and I’m now able to get to the "Nature" part of the benchmark before it crashes. But for the "dragon" bench I got ~ 115 on the low pass and ~ 57 on the High pass. For the "car" one I got ~ 70 on low and ~ 17 on high. I ran it at 1024x768 and 640x480 with the same results both times. I found some old screen shots of people's scores that have P4s @ 2.4ghz and AMD Athalon XPs  @2ghz and they are getting ~200fps on the car bench on low and 60 on high. So my p3 is extremely bottlenecking this 9800pro. haha. I guess good thing I only use this PC to play old games like Rainbow six/Rouge Spear and Mechwarrior 2 & 3. All I know is iv spent way to much time doing this. lol, oh well.

iirc there's a PCI version of the 8400GS

I got a prebuilt Thinkcentre M57 with a Core 2 Duo e6550 processor, and a Sapphire ATi Radeon HD 3650 512Mb for $20 at the local University resale.

It can run quite a few games at low to medium settings.

I know the point of this was building a gaming PC from new parts, but you still would be better off getting parts used, or upgrading a prebuilt.

I feel like because we had to do some hacks to get it working in Win10 it wasn't utilising the full potential of the 1080, although I don't know how you could get much of a higher score since it was hitting the limiter at 999fps most of the time haha

"Limiter" is limited to 3 digits, program itself can measure over that :)
Check details of GTX 680 score I linked in my previous post.

Tried to build one in germany for under 100€ but failed, still it's pretty cheap

af2b82c9eb.jpg

Totally this is € 113,39 (would be less without the hd 5450 but I think it's better with it :) )

Page is Mindfactory.de (german only)

I know I know 16GB is low can't even install windows 7/8/8.1/10 (don't know how big vista is) but at least it's something :D.

For about 13€ more you could get an 320GB hard drive on this page (if you don't buy the USB stick).

These are actually the cheapest parts you can buy on this page!

EDIT: Maybe you want an fire extinguisher next to it :)

My System:

CPU: Intel Core i7 920

Graphics Card: KFA2 GTX 1060 3GB OC

RAM: 4x 2GB Hynix 2x 2GB Corsair (12GB) DDR3

MB: Some acer one (It's crap)

HDD: 3TB Segate Desktop HDD (Data) 500GB WD Blue (Video) 1TB Hitachi (Anime)
SSD: 250GB WD Blue

sounds like a mouthful

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Need that pic of Nick Light's face on a giant hot air balloon. :P

Not on the basket, more like the hot air balllon itself. I picture some person waking to a beautiful morning sunrise and then this hot air balloon creeping up the horizon.

You should make a follow up video where you build a pc with the same budget but purchasing used parts. That way you can show the real value of used parts.
