damn but in all seriousness you need to tell us which gpu and which monitor/tv are you connecting between and which hdmi or dp version they are using

 

there is no better solution imo. they all work nice

Doesnt matter.

 

at 4k 60fps they can both do the same shit.

 

Any more and DP has higher bandwidth so use that.

Both work for nearly all scenarios.

 

If you need adaptive refresh rate, then DisplayPort

If you need compatibility with TVs, then HDMI

if you need the highest resolution and refresh rate possible, then.. it's complicated.

  • Historically, DisplayPort has supported higher resolutions, and higher refresh rates, but HDMI 2.1, which is soon to be released, will support a bonkerz 120Hz at up to 10K resolution with HDR, so DP wins until HDMI 2.1 comes.

It does not matter unless you're trying to do 8k or something like that.
