AntiVirus that you use right now & recommend one free & one payed software that you think is getting the job done these days without being a pain

Title , PS: inb4 'commonsense' comments . Been away from the antivirus game for a long time,  Looking for fast but extremely reliable & secure Anti-virus software for a client , Has to be new version prefer paid subscription but will go for free if it's the same as buying one, don't mind if it's a new company that is unheard of , but has to be good enough to not clog up the cpu load on the background as such & has to be good at detecting minor nuisances as well. Please leave your recommendations down below

Windows defender, the one that comes with windows, is the best IMO.

not intrusive, but also good enough that it blocks mostly everything.

I think that Microsoft security essentials is the old name for defender.

Windows defender comes with all PCs. Use that. Microsoft security essentials is yet another antivirus. Not necessary though.

Probably under Microsoft Security Essentials.

For an anti-virus (on Windows), Windows Defender should serve you alright. If you want anti-malware to go with it, the free version of Malwarebytes should serve you well too.

I personally use Windows 10 installation disk. So if I have a virus I clean install Windows.

I used to use Bitdefender and afaik it's quite good.  There's a free version that I had, and you can also buy it for more stuff.

Afaik, Windows defender, though better than nothing, does not really measure up to the serious offerings when actually put to the test.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Yup. Sophos Home (free, you just have to make and account as it's cloud managed) on my personal computers, and I manage Sophos Cloud for our business.

BitDefender is currently the top dog and is also not too resource intensive. If you put BitDefender as the bar at 100% detection rate, Windows Defender is about 85%.

Also going to second on Malwearebytes.  The free version is great I have the premium and it works wonderful too.  It blocks intrusive pop up sites too.

I run Windows Defender and I have a lifetime code for Malwarebytes (bought it before they switched to the subscription model).
