That was back in March and there is still no fix? Well then.....

I looked it up the other day for someone else and still saw posts about it for late April/Early May so take caution.

X299 is not soldered like X99 was. Intel cheaped out so X299 is going to be a furnace

Yep I'm very disappointed regarding the lack of soldering

I was talking with someone at work the other day and they speculated the reason they did that is because on smaller die chips, solder becomes damaged over time through intense thermal cycling, which is common for enthusiast cpus. It makes sense, I guess,

I think you should wait for this year's imac refresh.

They are gonna announcing something special according to rumors.

And the reason that your imac is slow is probably because it has a standard HDD in it.

Get one with a SSD the machine will fly through everyday tasks.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

I would second this.

It is WWDC, Apples developer conference next week, and its heavily rumored that they will announce new hardware. I would look at what they have to offer then and choose accordingly

X99 was soldered so X299 sure as shit should also be soldered the die is not small like it is for the mainstream cpus.

Build quality, proprietary awesomeness, multiple Thunderbolt 3 ports, great battery technology, beautiful design, and the Apple logo. That's why it's expensive.

beautiful design is subjective.

Me at the Apple store: "So how fast is this little macbook?"

Apple employee: "Cheetah Fast. Lightning Fast. It's Really, really, fast."
