280x will always perform better than the 270x, but it is up to you. I don't know what the prices are where you live. The 280x has a great price/performance ratio, over here some are even cheaper than the 7970.

£150 For 270x or £225 for 280x (cheapest).

But prices are slowly working there way up. I was going to wait till december to see if Mantle makes a difference but if the 280x goes any higher push itself out of my budget.

But how long will it take you to save the extra £75?

I'd just wait then. You've waited this long, another couple of months won't hurt.

Prices will probably drop by then too :)

It is really your decision man. Everyone here (myself included) will say wait till you have enough for a 280X (because it is better), but you've waited this long, another couple of months won't hurt :)

EDIT: Just checked BF3 benchmarks on the 270X/280X. Both will give you a great experience, though 280X will be better in the long run. If you can't wait, get the 270X.

Thanks, think I just needed to hear that, was hoping someone would say that it wouldn't make much difference performance wise. Hadn't thought about the long run.

Edit: damn your edit

Oh no. I have the 512mb model not the 1gb. It smells very warm when playing games. I brought it a long time ago for a media pc and I put it in after my 460 blew up and my RMA wasn't accepted. Think I have a 9600gt around here somewhere.

Oops. I'm sorry. Stay strong man! When you get your hands on the 280X, it'll be worth all the pain and suffering.
