Mid-Range Ryzen build for Video Editing

Goal: Build a moderately powered rig for video editing, is ryzen worth it? 

 

What I've got.

Does this seem reasonable? 

Am I being silly somewhere? 

Is there an intel equivalent I'd still be better off with? 

Can I save money somewhere?

 

Willing to spend a little more if someone thinks they can demonstrate a reasonable improvement in performance for an Adobe suite work load.

Flexible 1500/2000/2500 (depending on performance improvement)

Build editing workstation, Premiere/After Effects mainly with the rest of the Adobe suite peppered in.

Already have a GTX770 that I can put in the rig, just want to build around it and test out a ryzen system for general performance and editing (basically try out how the extra core low cost actually fairs in the real world)

 

• 3/4 Monitors/peripherals - Not Required

P.S. I know the case is probably overpriced but I love these cases, but willing to get suggestions on this.

Step up to x370 better overclocking and you can run up to 3200mz Gskill Flare x at present time

Sorry, should have mentioned this, no overclocking.
Reason: This is a build for work and will be built by a retailer who won't offer build warranty on an overclocked system. I need this so any build issues can be referred to them without issue. as this boosts to 3.7 and most of the 1700s seem to top out at 4ghz, I don't feel like I'm missing out on much.

 

I did give a bit of thought to the x370 but I very much doubt this machine will ever see multi-GPU, and it saves me around 70-100 cost to justify.

yeah, it seemed like the consensus was, there wasn't any issue with it. Which is why I thought about doing the build, but I've only built intel systems until now and I know it's easy to miss silly things when in unfamiliar territory.

Well in that case go for it you're going to enjoy 8 cores 16 threads for editing and video work rendering is excellent on the Ryzen platform for the dollar to performance ratio.

Awesome, yeah that's what it looked like, the price to performance just looks out of this world at the moment. It just seems too good to be true so thought I would check.

I have both a 1600x and an 1800x for rendering and video editing my GoPro footage, it is all they say it is when it comes to that niche. And to think I was just about ready to pull the trigger on the Broadwell-e platform save a bit of money there!

You can overclock just as good with a B350 board. Also no need to spend extra on the ram. Sure a standard kit might not run at it's rated speed now, but there are updates due for ram compatibility.

yeah I might exchange out the nvme for a standard ssd but I put one in my last rig and man, it was almost as good as going from spinning disk to ssd, and the prices keep getting more and more reasonable.

I feel the same way I have an nvme in my system and its really responsive, I've read that some say you wouldn't see a real appreciable difference maybe its just me but I sure do see and feel a difference with it apposed to not having it. The reason I suggested an x370 as I thought you would be overclocking and the power phase is much greater from what I can see between B350 and x370 but your not going that route so the one you are considering is good choice also for some reason pcpartspicker shows that board up to 2666mhz ram but the manufacturer's website shows up to 3200mhz o.c. I can tell you from my experience that Ryzen does in fact like fast ram I am running flare x and running very stable right out of the box, I do have Gskill rip jaw 3200mhz in my other rig and am having trouble even getting 2666 running stable hope the AGESA update helps out there.

Interesting, I've heard bits and pieces about ryzen and higher speed ram, I might have to have another look into it. Cheers.
