FPS question

Finally had a chance to play a game on my Ryzen build I'm not a gamer so I'm new to this anyway I got afterburner setup to show stats in game, world of warships to be exact and my FPS is pegged at 60 FPS does not go over is that because my monitors are 60hz or is it just that game?

If v-sync is enabled in the game's settings, the fps will be locked at 60.

Check for V-Sync. 

 

Edit: Some games are capped at 60Hz with little chance to change it.

Also, if your monitor goes to 60hz. max you won't be able to see more than 60fps, even if your computer can push more than 60, unless you have a monitor that has a higher refresh rate, say 180hz.

He can still notice more fluid actions with more than 60 fps in first person shooter games. (Not everyone can notice it though so don't worry about it to much)

If it goes up to 60 FPS but does not go higher and it can go below 60 FPS continuously rather than jump down to 30 FPS, it's not VSync, rather it's a frame rate limiter.

Well turning off VSync worked but I'm open to your suggestion where would a frame rate limiter be? In the game console or my GPU console

It's something programmed into the game itself and usually isn't something you can easily access. Most of the time someone makes a mod to remove it.

Some games require high speed ram (ex. Overwatch) and/or fast cpu (with several cores) (ex. Battlefield and again Overwatch) to utilize everything but since you already have a relatively new unlocked I7 I guess you should focus on your settings instead.

 

If you have a 60hz monitor then it sounds perfect to never drop below 70, if you have something more then 60hz then don't run everything on max. You can keep some graphic/clarity settings but other things should be high to low settings. It's different for different games.
