Hi,

 

I'm somewhat interested in building my own pc. I used a parametric filter on pcpartpicker for the less-important components so its essentially a bare-bones build-

Not worth it, you can get similar performance by OC 1600, also you get a much lower TDP (less heat) and a free stock cooler too

not just get the 1600 it comes with a stock cooler and its alot better then the one you picked

Not really, but the 1600 costs $30 less and comes with a stock cooler. Perf/$ is just much better. If you use that cooler you're essentially paying $65 extra over the 1600 for not that much performance gain.

Only gonna be <5% in reality. Performance doesn't scale perfectly with clock speeds, especially on Ryzen.

OP, to OC ryzen all you need to do is set the frequency to eg:-

 

3600 (same as stock 1600X)

set voltage at something like 1.28vcore

 

save and exit bios, that's it oc'ed, then all you need to do is test and see if it's stable and if not then just up the voltage to soemthing like 1.3vcore.

 

Seriously it's very easy to do and saved you money too, and still got the same frequency as 1600X, but you could easily push that OC to 3800 with no probs.

Nope, the stock wraith cooler is good enough to OC to about 3800/3900 if you have decent cooling in the case and airflow is good.

I haven't tried that mobo TBH, so don't know, but almost any mobo should eb able to handle that OC as it actually only uses very little extra voltage compared to stock voltage, plus I don't trust auto voltage, I have seen auto voltage peak waay too high. I have this one myself and has some great features for the price it is, and has decent power phases to give clean energy to the CPU, just check the QVL list though to make surte your ram will run at speeds you want.
