Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I'm getting into tech and I want to know what to do... I'm not sure what to go get started with and what to make.

I've tried HTML, CSS, Java and C++. I gave up. I also have a C++ for dummies book. Please help.

Many people recommend starting with Python since it's a well-developed language, but I've never done Python, so I cannot vote for that. I am a .NET developer and I would definitely recommend getting into C#. Visual Studio has a free, community version and C# is a language in which you can code for desktop, mobile (Xamarin) and get into game development (Unity) when you get comfortable with it.

I wouldn't recommend getting started with web development since you would have to learn HTML, CSS, Javascript (including jQuery), PHP and possibly even more languages to get any decent webpage started and that's a lot of work and confusion.

In my opinion one of the most important aspects of programming is getting the programmer "way of thinking". Phrase "You can code" does not mean that you know the programming language syntax, but that you can solve problems quickly while thinking about optimization and future proofing. Don't spend a lot of time thinking about what programming language to learn first, just choose one that has a well-developed Internet community (such as Stack Overflow) and start coding.

If you need some help getting stared with Visual studio or C#, you can message me and we will sort thing out ;)

Try, fail, learn, repeat...

The problem with learning how to program is more or less understanding what the fundamentals of programming are, rather than trying to learn some language and hope you get something out of it. Then it comes down to building ideas about how to solve basic programming problems rather than try some large project.

What us the reason why you gave up, was it to hard or was it lack of interest?

Most of the times its lack of interest and being motivated boosts the way of working on a project.

The dummies books etc are boring to me too, i found something i needed and wanted to make (web development) picked a language for the thing i wanted to make.

And began, see where my skills lack (like everywhere) and just watched some Lynda tutorials which are really good explained.

So you work towards your goal of completing something and actually feel like you have done something useful while picking up a skill.

Im an video guy, love to watch and just let it sink in. But documentation will always be a necessary thing.

Quote or mention me if not feel ignored

You might find Spigie's comment in another "help me learn code" thread. I don't have the time to write up my own version of it and since I completely agree with it I might as well just leave a link to it instead. I've also commented a more detailed responce below it too and I'd basically just be copy pasting that here as well.
