FX and A10 is worse than Pentium in most use cases, but we are actually RECOMMENDING Ryzen 3 when it comes out.

If you don't want to wait, go G4560. If you can, Ryzen 3.

I am a AMD fanboy myself, but why not get a better product for less if you can?

If you want to use CPU boss, which you really shouldn't use cuz it sucks, look at at the i3 6100, which is very similar to the G4560. (you could also get a G4600, which is basically identical)

clear win.

We're not AMD haters. I own an R5-1600X. If I hated AMD, I wouldn't own that.

Now that that's aside, the Pentium G4560 has around 50% better single-threaded performance than an FX-8350, and something like an A10-7850K scores worse in every regard than said Pentium does. On top of that, the Pentium barely sips power and doesn't generate much heat at all.

If you buy the Pentium, then you have the entire Skylake/Kaby Lake lineup ahead of you as an upgrade choice later on down the road. If you buy an A10 or FX CPU, that's it. The best CPU's on those platforms are, essentially, trash compared to anything new. Why spend money on dead platforms? You'll only have to spend more money sooner than you would otherwise.

TL;DR: Don't buy into ancient platforms. Either wait for Ryzen 3, buy a G4560, or save up for Ryzen 5 (which, if you're waiting for Ryzen 3, you might as well do this one).

Current Build:

Current Laptop:

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900HS

GPU: RTX 3060

Old PC:

those are using the same architectural design as the A10 and FX line, so that is still not recommended. at least it cost less.

If you're set on buying an ancient CPU without our advice, then buy one. I don't understand why you asked us at this point.

They are objectively a bad choice, even for those on a budget.

either 1400 or wait for r3. those old processors arent worth buying. i dont like the pentium even though it does have great price to performance, id recommend a quad core at least.
and for the record, i am not an intel shill

13700k, 3070, 32GB@3200
