best CPU for a mini itx console killer?

I am building in a node 202. I was originally going to rip out a 6700k from my main driver because I want to do ryzen in the future for more cpu intensive productivity tasks. I'm reading that a 6700k works in the node 202, but there isn't a cooler out there that will allow it to OC, rendering the K useless. Now I'm second guessing myself.

anyone building mini itx machines have a thought/suggestion? thanks

Well yes it does mean that you wouldn't be able to OC much if at all, but that'd be the same for any CPU in a node 202 because of the small size of the chassis and airflow not being great. So the i7 6700K would still be better because of it's base and boost clock even without OCing it than almost any other CPU you could put in there.

Any ideas for what graphics card you'll use? You may be able to mod the case with a short card to fit s 120mm liquid cooler. BitWit did this (with a Nano I think), but I'm pretty sure he had issues with it later. It might be worth looking in to.

This should give you an idea on what to get and how it should perform.

i5 6600k @ 4.4ghz on Hyper 212 Evo

Powercolor RX 480 8Gb Red Devil @1330Mhz

Bottom line:  Don't be a spaz or an 800lb gorilla when installing your expensive CPU, and you won't have any problems. --Phate.exe

yeah, i saw that project! I like a good DIY project, but I'm not wanting to get out a hacksaw or anything. i have a reference 1070 blower style card, so I'm intending to use that. Maybe in the future I'll get creative. I know MSI has a short 1070 out now.
