Best 144hz+ 4k IPS HDR monitor for gaming?

nope-not-yes

there are no 4k 144hz HDR monitors out right now. however there are two that are coming soon: Asus PG27UQ and Acer X27. both of these may have an MSRP of $2000

that monitor you linked is 4k 60hz gsync IPS, no HDR certification (so it cannot use HDR)

Not going to get a 144Hz IPS 4K HDR monitor on that sort of budget. The monitor you linked is only 60Hz and lacks HDR.

The Acer Predator X27 and the ASUS PG27UQ are probably what you're looking for but a) they're not available yet and b) they will cost way more than $1000.

Your best bet is to get a 1440p 144Hz IPS monitor with G-Sync if you're going to game... something like the Acer XB271HU or the ASUS PG279Q will do nicely.

i suppose a good middle-ground is a 1440p 144hz IPS monitor. do you care about adaptive sync (gsync / freesync)?

2K is closer to 1080p. It doesn't mean 1440p. See my recommendations above.

This.  The only two monitors that meet the specs you're looking for release in the next couple months (supposedly) and will retail for around $2000.  The current best gaming monitor is the Asus PG279Q, the Acer equivalent is just as good but I personally prefer the aesthetics and the OSD of the Asus one because the nub is more responsive and it has ULMB right in the display settings.

Note: disabling GSync and running 120hz + ULMB is the best overall gaming experience, running 144hz + GSync isn't better.
