While I love the way my two 1070 cards look, i'm starting to realize that maybe a single more powerful card would be wiser. I'm looking into offloading them (along with brand new EK blocks and backplates) for a 1080ti, but I've seen some threads recently on here noting a few issues people are having. Should I be concerned? I was looking into the founders edition card, unless there is another version of the card that has a water block out for it (no strix pls)

As I sit here waiting on a Strix 980 TI to come in the mail tomorrow. Lol.

But on topic, you say you are looking at a founders edition card... Meaning you are water cooling the 1080 TI in a custom loop?

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

msi, gigabyte and the like should have cards that come with waterblocks preinstalled for less than it costs to get a card and block separate. I checked msi's site so I know they have it for sure

You should wait for the GTX 2080 Volta coming at the end of the year, it'll be superior and priced more or less the same while your 1070 sli is more than enough to keep you going till then.

Myself am waiting Volta to buy a new Titan, had no need for pascal little improvements.

I worry about current market value for these cards. Currently I might be able to get away with selling them all and taking a negligible hit (if a hit at all, hell I may even benefit if i'm lucky) with the purchase of a 1080ti and waterblock (or that MSI card that Cyracus mentioned)

@spadz93 I suppose you could just buy the 1080ti FE? they are the cheapest, EVGA for great warranty and water playing cover, those will be considerably easier to watercool, hells you might even try out the stock cooler for a while waiting for the best deal on waterblocks.

I was looking closely at the EVGA FE. Currently I have two 1070 FTW cards, and then two brand new EK blocks and backplates for them that i'm trying to sell. I'd love to sell them here but unfortunately my post count doesn't meet requirements yet (unless someone knows of any other marketplace that attracts enthusiasts such as on here). I figure that's enough gear to get me damn close to a 1080ti.

EDIT: not to mention my EVGA HB bridge

Perhaps it will, then again I honestly feel that you won't be losing much waiting for Volta, 1070 cards will still retain a good pricing around 300, and like I said the GTX 2080 will be priced between the 1080 and 1080ti, be an early adopted of nVidia's latest architecture seems worth it to me, getting a Pascal at the end of its life where every GPU already has gotten into market while you still have a perfectly capable SLI 1070 really seems silly to me.

For what is worth even, I think you should save money to add into the sell of these parts to buy the TITAN X (Volta) as well like me so you have the best single gpu setup possible for 11~ months that will remain up-to-date for like 7 or more years. mmmmhh...~

I'll probably stay on pascal for another few years, I can't imagine a 1080ti or even a pascal titan (X? XP? xp? who the hell knows) will be outdated within a few years
