Ryzen a dual GPU's

I'm going to try from a different angle here, is anybody running 2 1080's on a Ryzen platform and if so did you have any issues running both cards? I cannot get two cards to even let me post, the only other thing then is it's the processor or the ram since I have had this on 2 different mobo's with no luck.

Do the motherboards support two graphics cards? Did you connect the PCIe power to both cards?

Yeah both work in x16 slot and I tried power from both pcie power cables that come from my PSU and they work, I get this code b2 on my x370 ASUS Crosshair VI (legacy option ROM initialization) and I've tried to find a solution on the net but seem to hit a dead end that is why I'm asking now if anyone has had 2 cards working on an x370 Ryzen build as I'm considering that it may well be my ram which is not on the QVL the last time I checked or the processor.

 I've tried everything under the sun on both boards including taking the GPU back and having it replaced (thank god for microcenter) even though it is now apparent that it was not the GPU

and sli bridge is plugged in? also, plz quote in the future or we won't see you replied.

I'm willing to bet that's your issue right there.

Yeah I can run 1 card no problem, can overclock no problem it just does not like 2 cards on either board? Funny cause while I was running this ram on the MSI board every bios update I was able to bump up the clock speed on the ram got it to 29xx before I pulled the board for the Crosshair and still same problem that is why I was hoping someone would post that they have had luck with two cards, I really want at a minimum of 32gigs of memory which is what I have and from what I've seen they have been catering to 16 only for a two stick set I've read that populating 4 slots has issues that is why they seem to be shying away from 32 right now

I just ordered 16 gig of flare-x although I'm not holding out much hope, is your memory on the QVL? I currently have G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 Memory that I have used on both boards so I hoping it's just that.

No mine isn't  but got it at 2933

Same here but yeah drivers as well I'm going to disconnect everything but the boot drive and try to narrow down the cause, there are only a few more common connections that both boards shared on this build that could contribute to this problem the last two will be the ram and the processor, ram will be here Friday will keep this updated just very frustrating.

I'm at my wits end on this, so I just bought a new processor (R5 1600X) and the second card still will not post so the only original part left is my power supply (750 Watt) left which is brand new But both cards work powered by both sets of cables in the x16 slot? Is it possible that something in windows requires being disabled or enabled? Its a fresh install and the previous install obviously did not work either I just don't get it this card should be a plug and play event?

Have you asked Asus support, they are normally pretty helpful once you actually get through to them.

I really don't no man sorry, 

do you get any error codes on the mobo ? 

Is the bios up to date 1007 ? 

 

Is your monitor plugged into into the top card and are you using the top too pcie slots ? 

 

What happens when it wont boot 

 

nothing to the screen at all just the fans come on ? 

 

Can you borrow a psu to try for sure ? 

 

I think uni you said you already returned the board for another one right ? 

 

Are they hey the same card as some don't play nice with others i.e. Evga and zotac aftermarket cards have issues running together

The error code on the ASUS board is b2 legacy option rom initialization and the MSI board is a VGA led.

 

I was at Micro Center today picking up the new processor and I had a tech baffled for a half hour before I moved on. The cards are brand new ASUS Strix GTX 1080's that is why I bought a new board and went with ASUS thinking the cards would surely work on this board. The only other thing that is the same is I am using an m.2 nvme drive for booting on both boards, same one of course but I see no mention of that interfering with either boards PCIe slot x8 only x4 and sata ports. Well on a better note I did manage to get my ram (Flare X) to run at 3200 and my stable score on cinebench R15 to an average of 1732

It is odd. I have run loads of 2 card config in my board but not 10 series nv cards.
