hey guys at it again. So im all updated with newest bios. I have trident z ddr 4 memory. Nothing has changed in my performance at all. Plex runs great but i cant game on this thing at all. the FPS is horrible. 18-30 FPS and it jumps all around sometimes single digits. I have attached a photo and if you notice ryzen master and command center (which also has same temp as bios is reading) state two completely different temps. I wonder is the bios thermal throttling the pc because it thinks it is getting too hot? at this point i cant think of anything else.

The FPS problem sounds like the issue with G-Sync when trying to run game in Windowed/Borderless mode on Windows 10.

Fix for that is to disable Fast Startup.

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Settings -> (on the left side) Choose what the buttons do -> Change unavailable settings -> Uncheck "Enable fast startup".

Restart PC.

Jesus, this has been reported all over the place... the X modelsd have a 20C degree offset, they are the same temp.

Yeah, I know that there is an offset and ryzen master reports the correct temp but the bios thinks the temp is hotter than it is so could it be thermal thorttling even though its not hot just because it thinks it is?

I dont run games in windowed or borderless i run them in full screen. I'll try to uncheck that but i dont know what that would have to do with my FPS issues in game. I'm thinking thermal throttling or ram because if i turn off plex i can get a solid 60 FPS but as soon asi turn it on because of transcoding operations it drops my FPS which is totally bogus because it should be able to spread the load no issues.

Well, sorry but you didn't mention that, so only went on the info you gave us, you didn't explain well enough. And as for when it's in BIOS, that's pretty much how it is in BIOS with temp being higher than when in windows/linux is just how it has been for a very long time.

I don't know what the issue could be with the GPU. There have been several people reporting this type of thing lately, but could be for different reasons/causes.

if you look at the above i stated that i think it could be thermal throttling. i showed command center as it shows the same temp as the bios. i think i even said that up above where i said i wonder if the bios is thermal throttling it. I dont understand your windows and linux comment though. I dont think its the graphics card i threw it in another pc and it ran just fine. right now im thinking either A. Memory because right now memory compatibility sucks. B. Thermal throttling because it thinks its getting hotter than it is as Ryzen Master is the only thing showing the correct temps and the bios would potentially control if its thermal thottling just because it thinks its hot. I was hoping maybe youd see the temps in the above stated photo. or C. I notice sometimes that it doesnt spread the load very well between 8 cores so it could just be driver updates.

I'm sorry you didnt think i was clear enough.

LOL, to have you tell me I'm wrong and that you did tell us in your first post and then quote yourself with it showing no mention of the offset. So you didn't mention it at all, if you had I would ahve confirmed that yes it was just the offset you are reading from the MSI app.Yes, the 2 different temps are as I stated to do with the 20C offset, the MSI app is reporting with the 20C offset applied, the ryzen master app is telling you the actual temp.

No it is not throttling at all, the CPU I believe has to be hitting around 95 to throttle at all. I think your problem is just with the GPU, but I don't know what the problem is there.

The offset is in the photo? I said that i knew there is an offset? what are you even talking about? i said they state two different temps so what i really just wanted to know if the bios temp being high is making it think its to hot even though it isnt. Yeah the GPU isnt the issue. If i turn off plex which i also stated in this thread i do get better FPS so if its not being thermal throttled then its an issue with it spreading the load amongst 8 cores which shouldnt be an issue and that would lead me to believe that it needs to just waited out for more updates. And yeah dude read my original post over again notice in there that i did say that they were showing two different temps. i have actually posted about this in this forum several times i just havent gotten any good answers so i repost hoping someone will post something helpful. But also read about in my second post i said i took the GPU out and put it in another machine and it ran phenominal. I do appreciate your help its just frustrating to keep repeating the same thing over again. just look at the photos tell me what you think and let that be that. again though i appreciate your help :-)... something else i didnt mention so you dont have to tell me is that the boot times are out of control long. over a minute. i was wondering maybe the ram because i read not alot of ram is supported yet. I have trident z in there if anyone has heard of that happening id love to hear about what people did to fix that as well.

that was in the first post see the part what it says they state two completely different temps. I wonder if the bios is thermal throttling because IT THINKS, THINKS key word that it  is getting to hot.

im very sorry again that you didnt understand this and felt the need to point out that "you never said anything about the temp offset." next time i should bold it up for ya. :) so i dont understand why you felt it neccessary to say i wasnt giving adequate information for my question.

No, you mentioned the 2 temps and gave photos/screens, but you never mentioned "offset", which is why I pointed it out to you. Good luck with it.

Sooooo. can you explain to me what i meant by "I have attached a photo and if you notice ryzen master and command center (which also has same temp as bios is reading) states two completely different temps. I wonder is the bios thermal throttling the pc because it thinks it is getting too hot? at this point i cant think of anything else."

you did see that part right? now do me a favor @paddy-stone scroll up to the original post.. now match the two words and sentences and tell me what you think i meant by that? Two different temps the bios reads one and ryzen master reads another so states two completely different temps would be... WAIT FOR IT..... WAIT FOR IT.... OFFF SEEEETTTTT DING DING DING.... LINUS TECH GET THIS GUY A JOB!

I mean come on dude. if you have an idea on what the problem is voice it. dont a be a D and start telling me i wasnt telling all the information. id much rather work on fixing the problem rather than listen to you try and pull apart what i wrote because you cant read.
